Shoalhaven Rowing Club

Welcome to the SRC Website. SRC is located in Nowra along the picturesque Shoalhaven River. The newly developed boatshed, spectacular river and situation close to the centre of Nowra provides one of the best rowing venues in the country.

The club provides for juniors, seniors and masters rowing. Participating in social, club and elite levels. If you wish to find more about the club, details can be found on the 'contact & location' menu.

Club Member Birthday's 2010

Three of our senior members recently celebrated birthdays and in a function to celebrate the end of the competition season Ray Jones, Peter McGrath and Ron Kelly were presented with a BBQ breakfast and Cards.  In gratitude for Ray Jones’s ongoing dedication as a Coach and his 80th birthday he was presented with a Shoalhaven Rowing club Jacket and hat to help ease the chills on those cold coaching mornings.  Activity over the winter will focus on competitive rowers trying to resist the urge to sleep in on those cold winter mornings before work, and longer Saturday morning outings in the larger crew boats such as the fours and the club eight.

NSW State Masters 2010

The Shoalhaven rowing club recently competed in the NSW state Masters comp on the gorgeous Grafton River, with a combined team of six Shoalhaven, Milton and Mosman rowers competing in over twenty five races between them over the two days.  There were unfortunately no medals this outing, but the combined Shoalhaven team achieved finals in over fifty percent of the races contested in an Australia wide field of crew boats and individual from Sydney including ex-Olympic crews and individuals.

Adaptive Rowing

Shoalhaven rowing club has now developed and commenced an adaptive rowing program.

Thanks to a grant from the NSW Sport and Rec and the Department of Aging, Disability and Home care, the club have been able to purchase suitable boats to start this program.

What is Adaptive Rowing?

Adaptive rowing has three classifications, catering for athletes with a variety of impairments:

• Arms and Shoulders (AS) – a rower who has no or minimal trunk function and applies force predominantly through the arms and/or shoulders.

• Trunk and Arms (TA) – a rower who has trunk movement but is unable to use the sliding seat because of significant impairment to the lower limbs.

• Leg, Trunk & Arms (LTA) – athletes who have less restrictive, disabilities and are able to use the sliding seat as well as their trunk and arms.

Athletes with vision impairment or intellectual disability, as well as many athletes with an amputation, will frequently be classified as LTA.

If you are interested in adaptive rowing, Shoalhaven Rowing Club will be conducting Come and Try Days in May, June and July 2010 with sessions commencing at 0900 on the last Saturday of each month.

These days are open to all individuals, regardless of experience.

Booking are essential and some medical detail information will also be required, for further information email Dave Eddington at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
